Since the beginning Mimi St. Clair is an enthusiastic edudip user. As we developed during the time, Mimi also expanded her offer of webinars and gained more and more loyal fans in the last years. We talked to the certified personal trainer and business economist about her path of trial and tribulation to a successful webinar trainer today.
edudip: Hello Mimi. Thanks that you take the time to talk to us today. Tell us something about you. How did you get the idea to offer webinars on edudip?
Mimi: Hello edudip team. Let me think about it, because I am an active online trainer on edudip from the beginning of the platform. At first I was not a friend of Facebook and co, in the end I consequently decided to publish my self-made cartoons, which I created with the software Pawtoon, with videos on Facebook and Youtube. Then more and more requests from friends came, if I could also make a cartoon or video for them. Because this was not possible because of temporal and financial reasons, I changed over to explain how and with which program I create the videos so that any interested person has the possibility to create his or her own video.
So I quickly realised that I can appeal to a wide audience through various online channels, that were struggling with the same starting problems on the Internet that kept me away from interacting on the Internet at first.
I wanted to find my own way in order to help people tackle their own projects and not become discouraged on their way to their goal. Looking for a way to get in touch with people, I came across edudip that was already offering online seminars with German software in the year 2011 as the only provider. I was directly convinced on the spot by the idea of online learning.
edudip: Meanwhile you are offering webinars in different thematic areas. How do you decide on which topic you are going to hold a webinar?
Mimi: I often get my ideas through direct dialogue in chat during a webinar or from my followers on Facebook. Through active exchange with participants I quickly realise when a subject arouses great interest and there is a possibility for a new webinar.
edudip: So you arrange your offer of webinar in dependence of the wishes of the participants?
Mimi: Yes of course, the feedback of participants is the most important thing in this job. Some people would prefer an individual coaching on a particular topic for example, and then I also offer an individually tailored event for the participant.
edudip: At which time did you start to become really successful with your webinars?
Mimi: I have invested a lot of time in the last years in order to teach myself with the programs and to offer my knowledge in webinars for free. Last year I celebrated my 50th birthday and with this day I used the opportunity to turn my own hobby into a career. With edudip I have a great partner by my side. Meanwhile I run the coaching as a full time job on edudip.
edudip: Do you have a tip for online trainers, or those who want to become one?
Mimi: It is important, that you dare to try something new. In the beginning you always have to bring yourself to transmit yourself via camera to the monitors of strangers, that was not different for me! With the time routine comes and one is not so nervous anymore. A relaxed atmosphere in the virtual classroom is a big advantage and gives the participant a positive feeling, that he or she is going to book more webinars.
I have experimented a lot with webinars and observed the reactions of my participants. How does a webinar picture or a detailed description have an influence on the amount of bookings? Does it appeal to the costumers when I play many videos in webinar? A feedback of the customer is therefore very important for me.
In my experiences I noticed, that a regularly occurring webinar is going to be booked more often than an unusually occurring webinar. In the beginning it is hard to make webinars famous. I started promoting my webinars in a newsletters of my own homepage and on Facebook.
edudip: Wow, that are amazing tips that you are giving to trainers. Mimi, what are you planning next on your edudip academy?
Mimi: In the moment I am working with Mailchimp and the advantage that a landing page has. If this does not say anthing straightaway, I recommend to have a look at my academy, because in the close future I will be offering webinars on this topic.
Thanks Mimi for your open words.
